About the Foundation
Independent research for public benefit
PulmHealth Foundation was established to advance independent public health and environmental research. We study how air quality, environmental conditions, occupational exposures, healthcare access, and community characteristics are associated with respiratory health and healthcare utilization.

Why the Foundation exists
Respiratory health and environmental conditions are deeply connected, yet the data needed to understand that connection is often fragmented across public, regulatory, healthcare, and community sources. The Foundation exists to bring that evidence together responsibly, to study it with transparent methods, and to publish findings so they can inform public understanding.
What we study
Our work spans several connected domains: respiratory disease, air pollution, wildfire smoke, occupational exposure, industrial and regulatory activity, healthcare utilization, environmental health disparities, community sensing, and public-health data gaps.
How we work
We acquire and document data, assess its quality and limitations, normalize and link datasets, conduct transparent analysis, validate findings, publish methods and results, and support independent review. We use observational language and avoid unsupported causal claims.

Governance
PulmHealth Foundation is governed by a board of directors and maintains policies covering conflicts of interest, research independence, publication, data use, and records retention. Additional governance information, including leadership and board details, will be published as the Foundation's governance is established.
Legal status
Relationship to PulmHealth LLC
PulmHealth Foundation is a separate legal entity from PulmHealth LLC. The Foundation may receive data, technology, services, or other support through written agreements. Transactions involving affiliated entities are reviewed under the Foundation's conflict-of-interest policy and approved by disinterested directors. Read more about our independence.
